Still in his 30s Iranna is internationally recognized as one of the most innovative and original talents on the Indian contemporary art scene. He has exhibited widely and although he was artist in residence at Wimbledon School of Art this is his first solo gallery show in London. His pictures and sculptures are distinctive in scale and content. The human form is ever present, juxtaposed with iconic symbols drawn from every day life and from history, often against a heavily coloured background on strongly textured canvas.
This exhibition accompanies the launch of a major new book on the artist, published by Mapin in India and Lund Humphries in Europe and USA. The artist will be signing copies of the book in the gallery at the private view. Do contact the gallery if you would like to reserve a copy, or would like illustrations of all the works in the exhibition.
Osborne Samuel and Berkeley Square Gallery continue their commitment to showing the best Indian contemporary art in London. Contact the gallery for information about upcoming shows. |
